Biomass Maintenance
This scheme run by HETAS recognises competent maintenance businesses and individuals that can carry out manufacturers’ required appliance maintenance and raise the importance of burning the correct fuel. Engineers registered on the scheme will be able to meet the requirements placed on commercial (non-domestic) recipients of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) to prove their appliance is properly maintained.
As of April 2022, updates to The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme and Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2022 made it a legal requirement to prove non-domestic biomass heating systems have been properly maintained in order to continue receiving RHI payments.

Why maintain your appliance?
- Poorly maintained appliances emit particulates that damage air quality.
- Annual appliance maintenance is a critical factor in ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively, reducing costs for the owner and having a significant impact on harmful emissions.
- Requirements have been placed on commercial (non domestic) recipients of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) to prove their appliance is properly maintained.
